10 Awesome Things to Do in Ontario for March Break 2022

The pandemic might have turned you into a staycation savvy parent, but with Ontario opening up, it’s your chance to find some great activities outside your home! Here are 10 awesome things to do in Ontario to keep the kids happy during March Break 2022.

Syrup It Up

Price: Many events are free

March Break wouldn’t be complete without a tour and taste test at one of the dozens of maple syrup festivals and events throughout Ontario. You can find many farms and parks within less than an hour’s drive of the city. Check out these sweet events to find one closest to you.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Price: Free

It’s been two years since this good-to-be-green parade hit the streets of Toronto. The event celebrates the Irish spirit and takes place on Sunday, March 20th at 11 AM. It starts at the corner of Queens Park and Bloor St West, heading east along Bloor Street, south on Yonge, and west on Queen Street, finishing at Nathan Phillips Square.

Take in a Game

Price: $14 per person and up depending on the game, venue, and seating

Whether it’s Toronto FC at BMO Field, the Toronto Marlies at Coca-Cola Coliseum, or the Leafs and Raptors at Scotiabank Centre, the kids are sure to love the thrill of attending a live sports event.

Hike

Price: Free

Toronto has tons of parks where a hike or bike ride (weather permitting) gets everyone active and out of the house. Tommy Thompson Park, High Park, and Mimico Waterfront Park are just a few spots the kids will love.

Toronto Comicon 2022

Price: $15 and up

If your family loves pop culture, this is a great way to spend a few hours. The convention promises to bring the best of comics, sci-fi, horror, cosplay, anime, and gaming to the city for three days of fun.

Izzy and the Mystery at the Mill

Price: $20 per car

Pickering Museum Village is just a 30-minute drive east of the city where kids can help solve the mystery of the missing grain in this 1830’s village.

Capoeira for Kids

Price: Pay what you can

Mestre Sérgio Xocolate leads kids in an hour of Capoeira moves and body percussion, combining movement with live drum rhythms. Kids get into full activity mode, perfect to tire them out. The event takes place on Wednesday, March 16th at 88 Queens Quay West.

Travel Back in Time at Black Creek Pioneer Village

Price: $13.50 – $22.00

Kids enjoy learning about everyday life as a pioneer in Ontario. They’ll interact with period costumed characters who show them how things were done before computers and cell phones.

Island of Warmth

Price: Free

This interactive light installation at Dundas Square takes place from 5 until 10 every day until March 20th. Kids generate the fire’s sounds and flame movements as sensors use their movements to fan the flames. Kids will love dancing, jumping, and waving to see the fire react and get a kick out of watching the antics of fellow attendees.

Fireside Munsch! More Stories!

Price: $22.50 – $27.50

The Wychwood Theatre is offering readings of four Robert Munsch books from March 12, 2022, to March 20, 2022. The whole family can participate as some of the most beloved, rib-splitting stories are told by M. John Kennedy.
